It is possible to publish a white label version of the m-Path app on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. A basic white label version of the app is an exact copy of the m-Path app with
- your icon
- an app name of your choice
Having your own app in the Play Store or App Store has multiple advantages:
- Participants/clients may already know the branding of your university/study/hospital/… This way participants/clients don’t need to download an app that at first seems unrelated to the study (i.e. m-Path), but can download an app that has your name and branding.
- Participants/clients don’t need to join a study anymore. You can make sure that the correct study immediately starts when the participant/client downloads the app.
- This is now your app. This makes it possible to change much more in the app architecture. For a development cost, almost everything can be changed in this white label version as these changes wont affect the default m-Path app.
An example: The Booster (PROfeel) app
In an intervention study in the Netherlands (UMC Utrecht) an experience sampling platform, suited for children, was needed. As the default m-Path app is rather dry and not specific for children, a new white label version was created. Following adaptions were made (in collaboration with design studio Ijsfontein):
- The lay out was changed to make it more kids friendly
- A game was added
- The diary feature was greatly changed
- The award/coin system was changed to interact with the app
- Logic was added so that questionnaires change depending on the state of the app.
Below you can find some screenshots (in Dutch) of the final app.
