In this article the recovery is explained (1), it is shown how to recover your account with the recovery code (2) and how to get your recovery code when you forgot your recovery code (3).
Once an account is recovered on a new phone, the old account should not be used anymore. Upon recovery, only the last 500 interactions will be restored to the user’s app (but all interactions will remain available for viewing/download in the dashboard).
1. What is the recovery code
A recovery code can be used to recover an account. When an app user downloads the app and sets a nickname a recovery code is given to the app user. This recovery code should be stored in a save place. When the phone of the app user is lost or broken, the recovery code can be used to recover the account on another phone.
m-Path doesn’t use an email address with password, or a Facebook account te recover an account to protect the privacy of the user. m-Path doesn’t want to know any more information about the user as is absolutely necessary.
2. How to recover your account
When the app is opened for the first time, the app user is asked to give a nickname. It is however also possible to click on ‘or recover an old account’ (see Figure 2). The app user is then redirected to a page (Figure 3) where he or she can recover the account. Once an account is recovered on a new phone, the old account should not be used anymore!
3. How to get the recovery code
The recovery code is given to the app user when he or she creates an account in the app. To later see the recovery code again, open the menu (upper left in the app), click on extra and then click on ‘Recovery code’ (Figure 4). When the app user subsequently clicks on ‘get recovery code’ he or she has to wait 15 minutes before the code is shown. The user has to wait this time such that someone that borrows the phone for a minute does not have immediately have access to the recovery code.
