Sometimes a participant loses both their recovery code and the phone on which they could potentially retrieve it. In such cases, you may be able to help.
If the participant had only one research project (yours) added in their m-Path app, it is possible to create a temporary recovery code for them that they can use to recover their app, e.g., on a new phone. If you are using the researcher dashboard, you can create a temporary recovery code by going to your list of participants and clicking on the cog icon in front of the participant’s row. In the popup that follows you can click on ‘Create new temporary recovery code’. This will generate a code that you can give to the participant, while explaining them how to use it to recover their app (but take into account the code will expire in 24h).
If the participant has (partially) blocked you or has other research projects/practitioners added, you cannot create a temporary recovery code. In that case you could onboard the participant again as a new participant, and manually adjust the schedule in their personal participant space. If you are using protocols, you could reapply them manually and set a starting date in the past. In your data analyses you will need to to take into account that two of the participants in your data set are actually one and the same.
